About Us

In love and grace, we seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ, live by the power of the Holy Spirit, and serve with gratitude, knowing that our world belongs to God.

Our Mission

Believing that God’s people need facilities which promote their spiritual welfare as well as their physical health and happiness, our goal is to establish, maintain, and operate a family ministry center for spiritual renewal, recreation for all ages, food service, camping, and lodging in an atmosphere of Christian fellowship.

Statement of Faith

Knowing that our world belongs to God, we seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ, live by the power of the Holy Spirit, and serve others with gratitude, love, and grace.

  • We believe in the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—revealed in the Holy Bible and confessed by the Christian Church in the Apostles’ Creed.
  • We believe the Bible is the inspired and trustworthy Word of God, the final authority for faith and life.
  • We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

Sincerely held Christian beliefs are the foundation of the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, Inc.

Faith foundation

The Conference Grounds is a Christian ministry with beliefs that are most simply stated in the Apostles’ Creed:

We believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord—who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven, and is seated at the right hand
of the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen

Our ministry is rooted in the Reformed branch of the Christian church and affirms the historic Creeds and Confessions (Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, Athanasian Creed and The Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, Canons of Dort).
We believe:

  • That God, who created all things, is renewing all things through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • That the Holy Spirit calls, equips, and sanctifies God’s people to bear witness to the kingdom of God in word and deed.
  • That as members of Christ’s church, we are called to live lives of gratitude, holiness, and service as we await the day when Christ makes all things new.

What is the Conference Grounds?

The Conference Grounds is a place for people to gather in all kinds of ways. In the summer, families stay the week at Camp Conference Grounds, enjoying the beach, pool, and weekly themed activities. In the fall and winter season, our facilities are open for retreats and rentals.

History of the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, Inc.

Rooted in Christian faith, and being committed members of the Christian Reformed Church, the founding families of the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, Inc established the ministry in 1950.

Marked by a growing Biblical Conference Movement in the 1900’s, the world-wide Christian community “came to see Bible Conferences not only as gatherings for spiritual teaching and Bible study, but also as places for spiritual renewal and recreation that did not compromise conservative standards of Christian morality”. (Mark Sidwell. “‘Come Apart and Rest A While’: the Origin of the Bible Conference Movement in America”. Detroit Baptist Seminary Journal 15 (2010): 75–98.)

The mission of the ministry was established to create a place where people could gather, study the Bible, worship God through music and spend time together by stepping away from the busyness of their daily lives. The Bible verse of Mark 6:31 became a light post for the ministry…where Jesus tells his disciples to “come apart and rest awhile”. Thus became the anchoring inspiration until this day.

As word continued to spread about the property, programming, and environment, a growing number of people began to make a visit to the Conference Grounds a tradition and regular part of their ability to restore, renew and rest – all while deepening their faith in Jesus Christ.
