Sunday, July 29 – Dear praying family, I talked with Mike last night after he hiked into Gorham, New Hampshire. Mike is physically and mentally exhausted. When I heard him say “I am ready to quit,” I realized how exhausted he is. He is going to take at least  2 days off to discern if he should continue or not. He feels he has put his life in some very dangerous places. “If you saw where I have been, you would not be happy” was his comment to me. Praising God for keeping Mike safe through these last 27 days and we asking for yourRead More →

July 21. Mike hiked to Rangeley Inn today. It was a tough up and down climb with many rocks and tree stumps. He is feeling well and eating better. I guess that means he is getting more protein in his diet. Mike’s phone is not working so we will not have contact with him until he gets to Gorham, New Hampshire, which is about 5-6 days away. He said he was taking off Sunday morning Juy 22,with Woody, a boy just out of high school. Woody will take off faster today since he is a faster walker than Mike. Thank you to Woody for lettingRead More →

Wednesday, July 18.  Mike hiked a tough steep mountain today. It was up and down all of the 10 1/2 miles. Made it to Sugar Loaf Mountain, a new ski resort which they have opened up to hikers during the off season. He slept in a bunk room with 6 other people. Received texts from Ken Horjus and Steve Kragt today, encouraging him. Thanks Ken and Steve. Thursday, July 19. Mike called during staff devotions and was able to talk with us and share a devotion from his Heaven Calling devotional. He said the weather was cooler, with less humidity. Left back to the trailRead More →

Mike was pleasantly surprised when he heard about a hostel in the wilderness!  It’s call White House Landing. He was picked up at a boat landing and taken across the lake to the hostel where he was able to enjoy a shower, supper, and shelter for the night!  Saturday was a great day of hiking for Mike. He hiked 14 miles, the terrain was pretty level but still had it’s share of rocks and tree stumps. He is feeling great and sounds upbeat, he feels like he is finally getting his “hiking legs”.  Please continue to pray for good health and strength for Mike asRead More →
